ONE DAY AT A TIME

Believe it or not, every child dreams about the person they wish to become. The things they see as they mature, the socialization they get and the impact of the people around them play a part in shaping their lives’ dreams. Their inane minds visualize the paths they will tread on as they navigate life’s rugged terrain. According to them, they will even be esteemed professionals with glittering careers. To them, life is incapable of throwing brickbats at anyone. Instead, life is a rose plastered trail that gives pleasure to all who stroll on it.

Like any other girl, I too had a dream. My life’s plan was clearly laid out at a very tender age. I believed that everything was going to fall into place and I would enjoy the proverbial, “and she lived happily ever after” script. Everything around me pointed to a fertile base upon which the seed of my life would grow into the best fruit tree ever. My plan was well articulated. I had role models to look up to for counsel and guidance and the determination to make it in this life was unrivaled.

Prepared as I was, the greatest awakening for me was the realization that life at times does not always go according to plan. At times life can be brutal, denying us what we hoped and prayed for. Ironically, life might be pampering the next person with everything he or she wants.

Some dreams will be fulfilled according to our expectations, some will take time while others may regrettably fail to bear fruit. Unfortunately, the unfulfilled dreams have made some to conclude, albeit wrongly, that their stories are not worth sharing until everything about their lives has fallen into place. Let go of those expectations and stop trying to perfect your life.

Somewhere between our own plans and God’s plans for us lies life changing experiences of such a magnitude that if shared, can be powerful testimonies.

I have always thought that it would be a blessing to experience God’s daily revelation to us through someone else's life. Throughout the creation week, God celebrated the beauty of His work with a daily affirmation, “…and God saw that it was good”. While some see “work in progress”, God sees a perfect creation. The beauty of God’s creation is not determined by the end product, but by His daily affirmations. Look around you and within, you will recognize God’s hand in your life.

We will solve tomorrow’s mysteries later but right now, allow us to celebrate your journey.

Your story is perfect and ready to be shared with the rest of the world. God’s writing is perfect. Live in the moment and allow us to walk with you all the way.
